Blog Post: Get On The Offensive!!

Times are tough, but I say if you get lemons make lemonade! The key to success is to use all avenues available to expand your network. The relationships you build today may be your placements or hires tomorrow. Building a reputation as a great place to work is going to increase in importance. It will become increasingly harder to find great people with the right skills you need to fill key roles. Those recruiters who go on the offensive today will win! While there are an influx of job seekers in today's market, making sure you pick the right candidate is crucial to your organization's success. Having the wrong person on board will cost you more money in the long run. How well do job seekers understand your company before they show up for the interview or even decide to apply for the position? I hear so often from employers that they wish candidates knew more about the organization or specifics of the job so they don't waste their time interviewing unqualified candidates. They say they put the details in the job posting but it's not enough. It's not enough because unfortunately some people just do not take the time to read information. People have different styles of communication and while many do rely on written text others need to be visually engaged and watch the information!
Take this video job posting for Memorial Healthcare Systems as an example of how they bring a candidate looking to work in the labratory actually into the labratory too see exactly what the job will entail:

Thank you for sharing your concerns. It actually prompted me to change some of the language in the blog. I completely agree that both written and verbal communication is critical. The idea behind video is not that it is to replace written communication but rather compliment it. Video allows us to actually go into a place of employment and truly get a better feel for the environment and the culture. Thanks again and Go Jobing!
