BACKGROUND
GEO Care has provided mental healthcare services at the Palm Beach County Jail Complex in Florida since May 2006. The Palm Beach County Detention Center is the largest of the four Palm Beach County Sheriff’s correctional facilities. The Main Detention Center is used to house high-risk inmates who are in need of special medical and/or mental health care and also those inmates who cannot function at the other facilities. The Detention Center is equipped to house 3,300 inmates and on average receives 125 inmates per day. GEO Care provides mental health services to approximately 500 inmates.
SCOPE OF WORK
GEO Care has implemented a mental health program that includes the evaluation, treatment and/or referral of inmates with mental illness and provides the licensed staff required to implement such a program. Services provided include but are not limited to the following:
• Psychotropic medications
• Case Management
• Individualized treatment planning
• Supportive group and/or individual psychosocial interventions
• Psychiatric consultation
• Laboratory Studies
• Mental Status examinations
• Discharge planning
• Crisis Intervention
• Substance abuse counseling
In addition to these services, GEO Care provides all appropriate personnel with specialized training on mental illness, substance abuse, and suicide prevention and intervention.
