Senior Systems Analyst, Information Technology
The person in this position is responsible for the design, build, testing, installation and support of software applications required for the deployment of the MHS Enterprise Systems Program (Epic).
This individual must have broad knowledge of application integration and data flow, as well as extensive experience in the on-site installation and support of Health Information Management (HIM) applications. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to designing and modifying screens, design and configuring reports, and application workflows to support the organizational needs of HIM applications related to the Enterprise Systems Program. As part of the project implementation team, this individual will provide expert and creative solutions to user requirements and problems. This individual must take the initiative to research, resolve and respond to inquiries during the deployment and ongoing maintenance/support phases of the program.
This position requires knowledge of processes and workflows common in inpatient and ambulatory settings, in addition to advanced computer skills. Operational knowledge of HIM best practices, including Release of Information, Inpatient and Outpatient Coding, Document Imaging, Chart Tracking, and Physician Deficiency Tracking are critical components to this position.
Specific responsibilities during the implementation and operational portions of the HIM applications are detailed below.
Implementation Responsibilities
-Contribute to the HIM design/planning efforts, specifically for the Ambulatory EMR and Clinical Inpatient implementation efforts
-Manage to assigned project priorities, communication requirements, and assigned workplan tasks required to meet implementation timelines
-Configure, test, debug and install application systems
-Mentors other support staff with technical skills and works under limited supervision
-Orients new staff members to HIM Application processes
-Configuration and integration of the software to produce quality deliverables
-Training of end-user staff on the use of the software
Operational Responsibilities
-Provide on-going operational support (including training) for HIM solutions
-Act as a liaison between our operational leaders including nursing, pharmacy, clinical systems, ancillary services, and HIM.
-Continue to develop and optimize HIM solutions
-Test system upgrades
Skills / Requirements
Core competencies include the ability to communicate effectively, work as an independent professional, be self-motivated, and work effectively in a team setting to facilitate timely and successful systems deployment and program execution.
This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 3-5 years equivalent experience. A Bachelors degree with concentration in HIM, Information Technology and/or advanced clinical degree are preferred.
