Works in conjunction with the Agency's Executive Management Group and the Medical Staff in the development of clinical policy and standards. Provides, as assigned, psychiatric services and consultation to various clinical departments and provides leadership for the Medical Staff and other direct service providers in the development and delivery of quality service.
Licensed as a physician in the State of Florida. Board certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1.0 Provides clinical direction in the development of Agency policies and practices as they relate to psychiatric/medical issues and medical supervision of the Medical Staff.
1.1 Ensures that the quality of the Agency's services are commensurate with community standards as well as with the standards of the various medical professions represented on the staff.
1.2 Interprets and facilitates the formulation and implementation of Agency policies, objectives, standards and operational procedures with Medical staff, clinical supervisors and direct service providers.
1.3 Demonstrates effectiveness in maintaining compliance with various regulations governing the operation of the Agency along with the rules and regulations of accrediting bodies by monitoring ongoing practices and recommending corrective action as required.
1.4 Evaluates the performance and productivity of the Medical Staff; ensures practices are in keeping with community medical standards.
1.5 Plans and provides clinical training as needed.
1.6 Demonstrates effectiveness in participating with management in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, which ensure efficient and affective service delivery.
1.7 Demonstrates the ability to cooperate with others and function effectively as apart of the
Management team; assumes responsibility as a supportive person in administrative matters.
2.0 Chairs the Medical Staff Meeting.
2.1 Medical Staff meetings are convened on a quarterly basis.
2.2 Reviews Quality Improvement Reports and other information; recommends and implements corrective action as necessary.
2.3 Demonstrates the ability to serve as an effective liaison and channel of communication between the Medical Staff and Administration.
3.0 Provides psychiatric services for assigned patients.
3.1 Provides psychiatric care in accordance with community standards and the Agency's protocol for the provision of these services.
4.0 Serves as treatment team leader for assigned patients.
4.1 Conducts multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and ensures the participation of all members in implementing the elements of each client's treatment plan.
5.0 Ensures that clinical documentation required of the assigned psychiatrist is complete and accomplished in a timely manner.
5.1 All clinical documentation required of the assigned psychiatrist is completed in accordance with the Agency's protocols for such documentation and with its standards for timeliness for their completion.
5.2 Provides, during the absence or unavailability of other physicians, necessary authorizing signatures for treatment plans or other documents requiring physician authorization.
5.1 Staff meetings are attended 80% of the time.
6.0 Provides after working hours on-call services as assigned.
6.1 Provides all on-call services in accordance with the Agency's protocol and standards for such services.
7.0 May conduct emergency admission assessments for individuals under consideration for admission to the CSU.
7.1 Emergency admission assessments are conducted in accordance with the protocol for this service.
7.2 For involuntarily presented individuals, conducts emergency admission evaluations in accordance with Florida Statute 394.
8.0 May conduct psychiatric evaluations and discharge assessments for each assigned patient.
8.1 Psychiatric evaluations and discharge assessments are conducted in accordance with the Agency's protocol and its standards for the timeliness of completion of the services.
9.0 Exhibits good administrative and leadership skills.
9.1 Demonstrates the ability to recognize, establish and deal with administrative priorities in a prompt manner as required.
9.2 Always considers all relevant data in making decisions.
9.3 Demonstrates the ability to respond to changing circumstances in a manner so as to maximize the opportunity and minimize the problem as appropriate.
9.4 Always acts decisively and takes effective action appropriate to the circumstances as required.
9.5 Consistently demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with staff.
9.6 Actively contributes and participates on various committees and meetings.
9.7 Consistently exhibits responsiveness to others in and outside the organization (examples: returning phone calls, being punctual for meetings, maintaining availability to meet, etc.)
9.8 Effectively functions as an administrative resource to staff the community and Board of Directors.
10.0 Serves in Agency committees and work groups as assigned.
10.1 Exhibits interest and willingness to participate in special committees and work groups.
11.0 Performs other duties as requested.
11.1 Miscellaneous duties are performed according to instruction.
